Printing the Inherited Past - Iasi Romania

Printing the Inherited Past was originally presented as a conference paper at the 16th Genealogies of Memory Conference, The Lasting Presence of the Past: How Trauma Lives on Across Generations?, held in Iași, Romania, 23–25 September 2026. I gave the paper on 23 September 2026 as part of the panel “Artistic and Reconstructive Practices of Trauma.”

The paper considers how family history, inherited memory and archival material have shaped my practice as an artist and printmaker. It focuses particularly on Dissent and Displacement, Indelible Marks and Here Lived, and on the ways in which photographs, documents, objects and fragments of testimony are brought together through print and film.
